Penelope has dedicated her life to helping others through various roles in mental health and social work. Penelope is warm and approachable and immediately puts her clients at ease. She takes an active role in the therapy relationship and clients tend to feel cared for and connected with her right from the start.
Penelope works with clients with a range of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, and self-harm, body image and eating concerns, ADHD and OCD. She also works with clients on relationship concerns individually and in couples therapy. Penelope employs a strengths-based, individualized approach. She is a trauma-informed therapist who practices from an LGBTQIA+ affirming lens. She is particularly passionate about helping young adults navigate the complexities of adulthood and the changes that come with it.
Penelope holds a B.A. and B.S. from Tufts University in Boston, MA, and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago. At the University of Chicago, she focused on trauma therapy and participated in a Behavior Practices program, equipping her with the skills to help people to heal from trauma and find meaning in their lives.
Utilizing a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems Therapy (FST), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, Penelope customizes her approach to fit each client’s needs. Penelope is also trained in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy.
Penelope is dedicated to making every client feel heard, respected, and cared for. Whether you are dealing with traumatic experiences, the challenges of life transitions, or seeking to maintain healthy relationships and discover your identity, Penelope is here to support you.
Outside of the therapy space, I enjoy writing, attending concerts, and escaping to my hometown of Charleston, South Carolina to avoid the winter. I love spending time with family and friends and advocate for a healthy work/life balance for my clients.
