Kim is a compassionate therapist dedicated to walking alongside clients on their journey towards healing and growth. She creates an emotionally safe and empowering environment where all feelings are welcomed and explored without judgment. With a focus on individual therapy, she addresses relational and childhood trauma, life transitions (such as parenting, divorce, job changes), grief, managing anxiety, depression, self-esteem and Christian counseling needs. Her own lived experiences inform her empathy and understanding.

Kim specializes in supporting women from the BIPOC community, who are navigating the intersectionality of race, gender, class, sexuality, through self-exploration and self-advocacy. She is passionate about destigmatizing therapy within these communities and changing generational patterns for lasting change.

Her approach is personalized and eclectic, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Compassion-Focused interventions, all viewed through a trauma-informed lens.

Having earned her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Moody Theological Seminary, Kim has a rich background in various settings including school environments, in-patient and outpatient hospitals, community mental health, and private practice.

As a divorced mother of two adult daughters, I began a fresh start later in life. Transitions can be difficult, and I understand how complex life can be, especially when it doesn’t go according to plan. Drawing from these experiences, I bring a non-judgmental, relational approach that will help you explore your identity, recognize & change patterns to improve your relationship with yourself and others. When I’m not working, you can find me enjoying Chicago’s jazz clubs, strolling through farmer’s markets, or soaking in the serenity of Lake Michigan.

Location: Kim sees clients in our office in downtown Chicago which is walking distance from both the Metra and the “El” for in-person therapy sessions. Kim also sees clients for online therapy from anywhere in Illinois. Clients from Chicago may choose in-person or online therapy and often visit our offices from surrounding areas including River North, Gold Coast, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Lake View, Logan Square, West Town, Wicker Park, Bucktown, Ravenswood, Andersonville, South Loop, West Loop, Evanston and the Northshore.
