Megan is Proactive Therapy's Director of Operations. Megan handles all of the intake coordination, communication with clients, day to day operations, and billing for Proactive. She obtained her BS in Special Education from Minnesota State University, Moorhead and her MS in Social Work from Columbia University in New York with a specialization in International Social Welfare and Social Enterprise Administration.
Megan’s passion for social work began in high school when she worked for the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA), which provides recreational experiences to children and adults with disabilities. After college, she pursued her interest in special education through the Peace Corps as a teacher and boarding school mentor at the Lamu Unit for the Deaf in Kenya. She taught in a low-resource environment and managed the sourcing and ground-up construction of one of the first solar-powered computer lab projects in rural Kenya. She subsequently worked in international refugee protection in East Africa, first as a caseworker with Church World Service, and then as a Resettlement Consultant for UNHCR with RefugePoint. The refugee population she served included individuals with disabilities, mental health concerns, medical needs and protection concerns as well as unaccompanied and orphaned children.
While in graduate school, Megan completed internships with the Center for Sustainable Development, as the manager of a girl empowerment program based in rural Uganda, and with Forestdale, Inc, as a case manager for pregnant and parenting teens in the foster care system. Post-graduation, she managed program operations for IncludeNYC, a nonprofit connecting young people with disabilities to resources. She also has experience in strategy development and execution planning, strategic communications, crisis communications, change management and process improvement from her roles at Northwestern University.
A mother of four young children, Megan is a self-motivated leader with a strong work ethic and organizational and management skills. She is also a kind, compassionate, dedicated and positive team player.
